Back with a Vengeance!

My apologies for the lack of posts recently - I must have gotten caught up in grad school and college football bowl games. Some truly memorable games, and imagine how much better they will get when the NCAA moves to a playoff format?

Just returned from the 2012 National Sports Forum in Oklahoma City, OK. And guess what this cross industry conference of sports executives focused primarily on? If you were gonna say drinking, you would have been close. But the conference hammered home the importance of marketing, analytics, and social media. Folks, analytics and social media are the burgeoning fields in sports. If you don't care for data or hold steadfast to print media, then get out of sports.

If you want to get to know a sports social media rock star, get to know Brian Gainor. He started Partnership Activiation and I had the privilege of hearing present at the National Sports Forum on the uses of social media with sports franchises. Really incredible examples of social media that I will begin to share with you over the coming weeks. I urge you to follow him on Twitter, @BrianGainor. This guy was named to Forbes 30 Under 30 in Entertainment. Real deal folks.

Before I go, great article from Sports Illustrated on college football recruiting and Twitter. If you want to know who is committing to what school, then get on Twitter. You'll know as soon as ESPN does.
